ARE YOU A BUDDING INVENTOR?

26/08/2003

"This is an opportunity for anyone who has an innovative idea in science, technology or the arts to hear about the support that is available to develop it further."

The seminar will be hosted by Orkney MSP, Jim Wallace, well-known nationally in his capacity as Scotland's Deputy First Minister and who recently took on the ministerial responsibilities for Enterprise & Lifelong Learning. There will be speakers from NESTA (the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts) - the organisation that invests in UK creativity and innovation, FUSION (a regionally networked support mechanism for commercialisation in the Highlands and Islands) and Orkney Enterprise.

Looking forward to the seminar, Jim Wallace said, "This promises to be an interesting and informative event. Orkney is not short of people with innovative ideas, as the recent SMART Award won by Orkney based Deep Life Ltd showed. I hope that the seminar can help others take their first steps towards turning their idea into a commercial success."

NESTA's Scotland representative, Wendy Inglis-Humphrey, added, "This is an opportunity for anyone who has an innovative idea in science, technology or the arts to hear about the support that is available to develop it further."

Attendees will hear about a whole range of advice and funding available - from £500 to over £100,000 - and they will also get the opportunity to have a one-to-one chat with the advisers at the event about their specific idea or business and the most relevant source of funding for them.

To book your place either email (wendy.inglis-humphrey@nesta.org.uk) or fax (020 7645 9501). For more details on the seminar call 07909 795861.
