"The cheque's nice to have, the publicity is even better, but best of all is the recognition by our peers that we have the makings of a winning formula."

Quotient, which last year received investment from NESTA (the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts) - the organisation that champions UK creativity and innovation - has created a point-of-care diabetes testing system. This unique process uses the fluorescent properties of a patented reagent to measure glycated haemoglobin in a way that matches the performance of laboratory instruments, costing many thousands of pounds, in a fraction of the time.

The conference, which was also supported by NESTA, attracted more than 400 delegates and included 46 speakers from the business community around the world. It also offered master classes in dealing with issues that face technology entrepreneurs.

Simon Harris, Commercial Director of Quotient said: "It's a great boost to our team to be the winner of the Enterprise Launch Pad award. The cheque's nice to have, the publicity is even better, but best of all is the recognition by our peers that we have the makings of a winning formula."
