Innovation in the arts

NESTA is supporting a major project for organisational change at the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC). Based on the RSC’s expertise in collaborative working and distributed leadership when creating performances – the Ensemble principle – the project will explore the value of developing a similar way of working across the whole organisation.

Business school models of leadership and organisational development are mostly focused in the commercial world. Through this action research project we hope to provide a new operation and management model to transform the RSC’s practices for managing creativity into more general practices that are applicable across the whole organisation.

To capture the process and learning outcomes, DEMOS is evaluating the project and will publish the findings as a research document.
